$11 Nightstand Makeover with Magnolia Home Chalk Paint (for Kilz Brand)

Two weeks ago you probably remember how excited I was to receive a gift package from Magnolia Home featuring their new chalk paint line with KILZ Brand!

Well I wasted no time getting down to business and immediately knew I wanted to redo a pretty beat up nightstand I scored for $11 from our Church Thrift Store.  This nightstand actually originally comes from a great furniture store here in Tampa so the bones were there. Solid wood, large, plus the drawers were even on sliders.

I was excited! I decided to sand the crap out of the top of this nightstand down to the bare wood and restain with a dark color I had already from a previous project.  After everything was smooth and stained I sealed the top with a clear poly.

 BEFORE:

I lightly sanded all the sides and drawers and used the Magnolia Home Chalk Paint by KILZ in the famous "Shiplap" color.  I love the dark and white contrast! How gorgeous does the wood look now?!

For this project I used the Magnolia Home 2 1/2" and 1 1/2" brushes.

The 1 1/2" was perfect for all the trim lines and spaces between the drawers.

After the paint dried I applied the Magnolia Home clear wax.  Okay.  Lets just stop right here because this stuff STOLE the show! I have never really liked using any clear waxes (to be honest I almost always just seal with a poly) but this wax glided on SO smooth and SO even it was awesome!  Seriously the easiest and best quality wax I have ever used!  I have even decided to attempt painting one of the smaller vanities upstairs all because this wax is amazing!

I could not be happier with the end result! I LOVE the way this nightstand looks in Josie's room! I only wish I had another!

Thank you Magnolia Home and Kilz Brand for letting me try out these amazing products!!

4 Tips for Selling Your Home!

*Sponsored Post. Thank you to our talented guest blogger, Alex Berger, for sharing these 4 tips on selling your home!* Selling your home can be extremely stressful, but if you are in the beginning stages of the home selling process, I have a few tips for you! About four years ago, my parents packed up their home and moved from Marietta, Georgia to Amelia Island, which is about 30-40 minutes from the Jacksonville airport. They had no idea what to expect when it came to buying in a city that was completely new to them (they had only visited Jacksonville once - for two days!), so it was pretty stressful for them. Now, looking back, they could have done many things differently in order to make the process a lot easier for themselves, especially when it came to selling their home. But, since the selling process is so complex and stressful, a lot of people do it “wrong,” and they are just one of many, which is why I want to help. Here are a few tips for selling your home. Hopefully

Neutrals by BEHR Paint

I've been working on a project for the past two weeks and what always seems to be the most challenging part is choosing paint colors.  I have been wanting to find a nice neutral that isn't too "Gray" and isn't too "Beige" but not too white either. I personally like the look of white walls in pictures but in reality I'm not a huge fan.  Also, I like to see a contrast between painted walls and white trim.  Each time I look over on Pinterest for inspiration I find lots of suggestions for other paint brands..but I'm a BEHR girl :)  We spend so much time at Home Depot it just makes more sense for us.  That being said I decided to share with all of you my suggestions for finding the perfect "light Greige" by BEHR Paints!   To start off with here are three options that are lighter/cooler but will still show a nice contrast next to white. 1. Drizzle 2. Sterling 3. Halation These three options are als
