Weekend in Miami!

Over the past weekend we drove down to Miami and spent the night at our favorite beach front hotel..Marenas Resort.  It was our anniversary weekend and wanted to go somewhere we could have fun with the whole family. This is now the second time we have taken the girls to this particular resort (which is pretty impressive because both my husband and I love trying new places.) This resort offers "condo style" rooms which is awesome when traveling with children, has a really good onsite restaurant and is located right on Sunny Isles Beach.  The standard suite has views of both the ocean and the harbor. Stunning views! They also do NOT charge extra for beach chairs and umbrellas which is almost unheard of now a days.  It's moderately priced for everything your getting in this location. These are the views off the patios and around the pool.  I just love Miami's water! Its such a beautiful color and reminds me of the Bahamas!  We spent

My "New" Chandelier!

Here it is! I have been wanting to replace my builder grade dining room fixture with something that had a little more character.  I found a $30 gold brassy chandelier on Craigslist and sent my husband to pick it up! I cleaned it up with some Windex, bought new bulbs and spray painted the entire fixture.  I bought RUST-OLEUM hammered spray paint in Copper.  I am so thrilled with the result!

Spring Home Tour

Hello! I'm super excited to post my Spring Home Tour on my new blog! I posted this once before on my wordpress account and felt I needed to share it here as well.  I try to find the best possible deals when decorating for seasons and holidays.  A lot of my items were purchased at the end of season from previous years and I continue to pull them out each year! I hope you enjoy and welcome to my home.....  This is the DIY planter Box I made out of three pieces of Fenceboard. I filled it with some mason jars and green clippings from the yard.   Flower crate and silver ottoman tray from Marshalls. Faux plants from IKEA and JoANN Fabrics. Wooden lantern from Target.   Fresh yellow Tulips from Walmart. Vase is actually a Crate & Barrel water decanter.   I got this beautiful faux orchid and striped table runner from Marshalls.  Dried Lavender bunches ordered from Amazon.  Both of these wreaths came from JoAnn Fabrics at the end of the season making them

Backyard Patio Roundup! Decorating your outdoor living spaces & protecting them from the Sun

Welcome to my backyard! Let me start by saying living in Florida for almost 8 years I have learned that what goes outside must come back inside! The Florida sun destroys everything (but I still love it)!  When we bought our home five years ago my parents House Warming gift to us was our Patio Table and Umbrella.  This set sat out in the sun and literally looked like it was 100 years old after only THREE years.  (The set was a Martha Stewart edition from Home Depot)  The cushions were completely shot between the fading and mildew and just YUCK we tossed them.  The table and chairs were sanded and spray painted to literally make them look brand new again! We learned our lesson and had a sun lanai roof built off the back of the house and now the table stays covered.  I purchased some new cushions and a year later they still look amazing.  You can see our outdoor kitchen in the background of this photo.  Every Sunday night until Friday morning we cover the whole thing with a large tarp
