Project: Let's get organized!

Hi friends!! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season.  I don't know about you but I get so stressed out when I know I need to pack up all the seasonal decor.  You could say my garage organization system is lacking...in every department!  I have no real shelving system in place, mixed with broken and mismatched tubs and bins.

Living in Florida (with no basement) could be to blame but honestly I just desperately needed to get organized.  When I submitted this project to The Home Depot I was hoping they would think the same! Luckily they did!! The turnaround was quick!! The whole project took about two weeks so if you are looking for some instant gratification this is the project for you!  I constantly used The Home Depot Mobile App  throughout this whole project.  If you haven't downloaded it yet to your device what are you waiting for?! It's free and full of features that make any project or shopping trip easier!

Let's take a look at what the garage before the project started.  (Don't forget you can always view my story highlights on IG to watch projects in detail.)  I actually remember one time my own father came over and told me my garage was a fire hazard because he didn't think we could make it out with all the piles of stuff. Okay, that's embarassing....

My first step was to create a mood board.  These always help me stay on track during projects.  I decided since I would be emptying the garage completely I might as well create an accent wall.  I went with the wall I would be organizing all the shelves and storage bins against.  My mood board showed a dark ash color but when I was at the paint center in The Home Depot I decided to go with a pretty navy by BEHR called "StarlessNight".

Since I had a lot of painting to do I figured it would be a great time to try out a paint sprayer! I always see DIY tutorials using them and they looked easy enough!  After using The Home Depot app and searching out paint sprayers I narrowed it down to two that seemed of quality and a good price.  I went ahead and spent some time quickly reading the reviews on the mobile app which easily showed me which sprayer would be perfect for my project!  Paint Sprayer linked HERE.

This sprayer came with easy directions and my only mistake was originally trying it with some old paint...not a good idea.  It had gotten too thick over the years and I found out the hard way old paint = bad paint.  Once I cleaned out the sprayer (super easy) and added my new navy paint it worked like a breeze!!! I literally got this wall done in under 10 minutes!!! The only part I did not spray was about 7' from the ceiling.  For this I used a roller. When I think about all the hours I've wasted NOT using a paint sprayer it's truly sad! LOL

After gettting all the walls freshly painted I emptied out half of the garage to apply the floor paint.  I had to do this in two sections over a few days because honestly I just have too much stuff to keep it all elsewhere.  Here is the kit I bought HERE.  I have to admit I thought this would be the hardest part of the garage makeover but it was the easiest!! Once I read the directions it was all very self explanatory and I got the first side done in about 30 minutes.  After two days I went ahead and moved everything to the other side and applied the remainder of the garage floor paint. (It comes in two sealed sections so you have this option!)

Now to the fun part! Well actually not yet...I did have to put together the new tool bench/work station but that only took me about two hours. (Tool bench linked HERE)  All the large black and yellow shelving units literally took minutes to assemble.  I took a couple afternoons to empy out all the existing broken bins I had and really make sense of all the holiday decor.  I actually ended up giving each shelf all tubs for the specific season.  Now every year finding the decor will be simple! Yay!! (Shelving units linked HERE.  Bins linked HERE)

Once all the tools and decor had a place I needed a locker to store all the smaller spray cans and car supplies etc.  I ended up getting back on The Home Depot app, searching garage storage lockers, reading reviews and selecting one that was in stock at my local store.  That afternoon I ran up to my store and picked it up.  I LOVE this locker. Linked HERE.  It's sturdy, a great price and was so easy to assemble.

Of course I had to add a few decor touches...that runner is so cute right?! It's the same one from my mood board.  Runner linked HERE.  I felt like I needed some fun garage art work and ordered this large American Flag (linked HERE) and these fun signs (linked HERE).

What do you think?!  Honestly I can not believe this is the same garage.  You guys, my garage was so bad!!! This one is so clean you actually want to hang out in it lol!   I told my friends I may just have to have them over for a little garage celebration...not even kidding!

Another reason I am so proud of this project is I did 100% of it by myself.  Elton did not help, did not pick up anything in store, did not do anything!  Everything I needed I picked up myself and if my SUV wouldn't fit it then I had it shipped.  It's a very rewarding feeling and a lot of it came from the features and ease of using The Home Depot mobile app.  I am an avid review reader and the reviews of so many items from the paint sprayer to the right shelving unit really helped me out with this project.  Not to mention the new store feature I talked about in my social media posts! They have really thought of everything to help you succeed in any size DIY project.

I hope you all enjoyed this little garage makeover! Now the real question...will I be able to maintain all this organization?  I'm feeling pretty confident!!

Neutrals by BEHR Paint

I've been working on a project for the past two weeks and what always seems to be the most challenging part is choosing paint colors.  I have been wanting to find a nice neutral that isn't too "Gray" and isn't too "Beige" but not too white either. I personally like the look of white walls in pictures but in reality I'm not a huge fan.  Also, I like to see a contrast between painted walls and white trim.  Each time I look over on Pinterest for inspiration I find lots of suggestions for other paint brands..but I'm a BEHR girl :)  We spend so much time at Home Depot it just makes more sense for us.  That being said I decided to share with all of you my suggestions for finding the perfect "light Greige" by BEHR Paints!   To start off with here are three options that are lighter/cooler but will still show a nice contrast next to white. 1. Drizzle 2. Sterling 3. Halation These three options are als

4 Tips for Selling Your Home!

*Sponsored Post. Thank you to our talented guest blogger, Alex Berger, for sharing these 4 tips on selling your home!* Selling your home can be extremely stressful, but if you are in the beginning stages of the home selling process, I have a few tips for you! About four years ago, my parents packed up their home and moved from Marietta, Georgia to Amelia Island, which is about 30-40 minutes from the Jacksonville airport. They had no idea what to expect when it came to buying in a city that was completely new to them (they had only visited Jacksonville once - for two days!), so it was pretty stressful for them. Now, looking back, they could have done many things differently in order to make the process a lot easier for themselves, especially when it came to selling their home. But, since the selling process is so complex and stressful, a lot of people do it “wrong,” and they are just one of many, which is why I want to help. Here are a few tips for selling your home. Hopefully
