Be Our Guest....

It is summertime in Florida which means one thing...visitors! It's no surprise friends and family love to come down and visit for a summer vacation.  Making sure they feel welcomed and comfortable are super important! It is always a good thing to be the hostess with the mostess :)

All that aside I am certainly a little over anxious this year because I finally have an actual guest room and guest bath! Since I recently finished the guest room I thought I would write up a quick little post about how you can prepare for any visitors this summer too!

Obviously rule #1.  Get the bed linens all laundered and fresh.  Including some new bath towels and wash cloths.  I found these plush striped towels at my local Marshalls and thought they looked super cute with the guest room theme.

Make sure the guest room has a side table lamp as well as an overhead light.  This way in the evening if your guest wants to read they can do so without illuminating the whole room.

Have some bottled waters available.  We have an old bakers rack bar in our guest room so I simply placed some waters on it.  This way if someone gets thirsty in the morning or late evening they won't have to go downstairs and rummage though the kitchen.

Make sure you have some sort of mirror in the room.  Whether you place a full length mirror over the door or you simply hang one on the wall. I know I always like to check out what sort of crazy I look like in the morning lol.

Make sure the guest bath is ready to be used as well.  We never really use ours so I made sure to go and pick up a bath mat for outside the shower and a plastic mat for inside.  I also picked up some room spray in "Ocean".  (Another Marshalls find)

Under the bathroom vanity have items available that your guest may want.  Extra toilet paper, paper towels, counter spray etc.

I have always saved any extra and unused hotel toiletries and placed them in a basket under the vanity.  This week I went though to see what I had and I'm not gonna lie...it was impressive.  New deodorant, body wash, lotion, face bars, razors, toothpaste, aloe vera you name it!  This way if your guest forgets anything they can take a look through what you have!

If you have some tiny humans visiting don't forget about them! Ask what kind of diapers, wipes and food or snacks they like.  Have some ready as well as a play area.  I went around and placed plug in covers on all the outlets this week as well.  It's funny how once your own kids are past that stage you forget how many little dangers are everywhere! Luckily since my husband is pretty crazy we still have a mounted gate at the top of our steps.  Yes, in our new house.  With my 4 and 6 year old.  He mounted a gate.  But hey that's why I love his over protecting heart!

My girls had so much fun pulling out some baby toys for their cousin. They even went through our toy bins to remove all the small pieces (like barbie shoes)  this week!

Hangers! Make sure you have some extra hangers in the closet as well as some space if your guests want to hang any clothes.  I picked up these black ones at IKEA this week.  They were something crazy like 34 cents for 5! Love that place!

And lastly relax and get ready to have fun!  That is the best part of having visitors!

XOXO
Tracy

4 Tips for Selling Your Home!

*Sponsored Post. Thank you to our talented guest blogger, Alex Berger, for sharing these 4 tips on selling your home!* Selling your home can be extremely stressful, but if you are in the beginning stages of the home selling process, I have a few tips for you! About four years ago, my parents packed up their home and moved from Marietta, Georgia to Amelia Island, which is about 30-40 minutes from the Jacksonville airport. They had no idea what to expect when it came to buying in a city that was completely new to them (they had only visited Jacksonville once - for two days!), so it was pretty stressful for them. Now, looking back, they could have done many things differently in order to make the process a lot easier for themselves, especially when it came to selling their home. But, since the selling process is so complex and stressful, a lot of people do it “wrong,” and they are just one of many, which is why I want to help. Here are a few tips for selling your home. Hopefully

Neutrals by BEHR Paint

I've been working on a project for the past two weeks and what always seems to be the most challenging part is choosing paint colors.  I have been wanting to find a nice neutral that isn't too "Gray" and isn't too "Beige" but not too white either. I personally like the look of white walls in pictures but in reality I'm not a huge fan.  Also, I like to see a contrast between painted walls and white trim.  Each time I look over on Pinterest for inspiration I find lots of suggestions for other paint brands..but I'm a BEHR girl :)  We spend so much time at Home Depot it just makes more sense for us.  That being said I decided to share with all of you my suggestions for finding the perfect "light Greige" by BEHR Paints!   To start off with here are three options that are lighter/cooler but will still show a nice contrast next to white. 1. Drizzle 2. Sterling 3. Halation These three options are als
